59th McDonough County resident also has died of the virus

Another Adams County resident has died of COVID-19.

The Illinois Department of Public Health said Tuesday that a 152nd Adams County resident died of the virus on Saturday. IDPH also said that 59th McDonough County resident died of the virus on Saturday. 16 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Monday in Adams County. Over 13,000 people in Adams County have now tested positive since the start of the pandemic. According to the Adams County Health Department's COVID-19 dashboard, 20 people are hospitalized, including 2 in the ICU. The number of active cases has dropped to around 150, and the 7-day positivity rate is down to 2.5 per cent. New cases are being found elsewhere in West Central Illinois, including 6 new cases in Cass County and 4 new cases in Pike and McDonough Counties.

The rate of new cases of COVID-19 continues to slow down in Northeast Missouri. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Tuesday that 23 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Marion County in the past seven days. That's less than the 26 that was reported last week. There were 22 new cases in Lewis County, 14 new cases in Pike County, Missouri, 12 new cases in Monroe County, 9 new cases in Shelby County, 5 new cases in Ralls County, and just 1 new case in Clark County. Only in Lewis County are this past week's numbers higher than the previous week. Over the past seven days, no Northeast Missouri counties had a short-term positivity rate higher than 10 per cent.

For a third straight week, no one in Northeast Missouri died of the virus.
