76 total cases now; Health Department says respiratory symptoms increasing

There's been more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Adams County, including another child.

The Health Department said Friday morning that they've learned of five new positive tests for the virus, bringing the total number to 76. A second boy under age 9 is one of the new positive results, while a 43rd person has now also recovered. The Health Department is also now showing data that tracks respiratory symptoms among people seeking care through the community testing center. That shows that since mid-June, respiratory symptoms among those needing care are increasing. The Health Department says that this, along with the increase in positive cases, shows that there's COVID-19 transmission within Quincy and Adams County, and that everyone must continue to implement simple measures to reduce the spread of the disease.

With the start of Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan, the Health Department urges residents and businesses to closely follow guidelines, to focus on social distancing recommendations, enforce masking requirements among employees in businesses and urge face coverings for entry to indoor spaces.
