Adams County Board recommends actions against Bier

Adams County Board recommends actions against Bier

Board also approves Riverfront Master Plan

The Adams County Board has narrowly voted to recommend that Board member, and former County State's Attorney, Barney Bier be removed from the Board's Executive Committee and be stripped of his chairmanship of the Legislative Committee.

The Board voted 9 to 8, with three abstentions Wednesday night on that recommendation, after a 45-minute executive session. It's now up to County Board Chairman Kent Snider to decide if he wants to act on the recommendation. The vote is apparently tied to the resignation last Wednesday of County Administrative Services Director Sue Hester. After the meeting, County Board Chairman Kent Snider said he couldn't say anything about the vote, and how it ties in with Hester's resignation, but said that she would be missed. Hester's resignation is effective at the end of the month. She started working for the County in August 2017. Snider named a committee of five County Board members, including former Chairman Les Post, to search for Hester's replacement.

The Board also approved the Riverfront Master Plan for Quincy's riverfront, and an inter-governmental agreement with the Quincy Bay Area Restoration and Enhancement Association. The vote will help the Association as it works to get up to $20 million in Federal funding to dredge Quincy Bay.
