Adams County Board recommends approval of hog confinement near Bigneck

Adams County Board recommends approval of hog confinement near Bigneck

1 week ago by Scott Hardy

Final decision made by IL Dept of Agriculture

The Adams County Board has voted to recommend to the state that a proposed hog confinement be built near Bigneck.

The Board voted Tuesday night to recommend approval for the hog confinement facility. County Line Swine wants to build a livestock management facility near Bigneck, and eight people spoke to the Board about it. That included Randy Clair, who co-owns an organic farm that would border the proposed facility. Clair is worried that runoff from the 5,000 hog confinement could get into a lake on his property. Ragan Peters, who owns the land where the facility would be built, spoke in favor of the proposal.

A final decision will be made by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
