Adams County COVID-19 death toll rises to 137

Two people died over the weekend, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health

Two more Adams County residents have died of COVID-19.

A 136th and 137th person in Adams County were reported on Sunday to have died of the virus, according to the latest data posted Monday by the Illinois Department of Public Health. That makes eight people in Adams County who have died this month due to the virus. IDPH said on Saturday that a 34th Hancock County resident died of COVID-19. Since Saturday, there have been 114 new cases confirmed in Adams County. That includes 64 on Saturday, nine on Sunday and another 41 new cases on Monday. According to the Adams County Health Department's COVID-19 dashboard, the number of active cases of the virus has dropped to around 520. 47 people are hospitalized, including 8 in the ICU. The County's 7-day positivity rate is just under 8 per cent.

More new cases continue to be reported in other West-Central Illinois counties. They include 9 new cases Monday in both Hancock and McDonough Counties.
