Liberty Fire Protection District will use money for new truck

An Adams County Fire protection district is getting help from the State of Illinois to buy a new truck.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office and the Illinois Finance Authority announced Wednesday that both agencies issued over $9.3 million in no interest or low interest loans to emergency responders across the state. That includes $120,000 for the Liberty Fire Protection District. That money comes from the Fire Truck Revolving Loan program. The FTRL and the Ambulance Revolving Loan Program are designed to help departments or cities buy emergency vehicles that they may not be able to otherwise afford. Under the FTRL program, fire departments, fire protection districts and township fire departments can apply for up to $350,000 in low interest or no interest loans to buy a fire truck or brush trucks.

The loans must be repaid within 20 years.
