Adams County Health Department investigating possible COVID-19 exposures

Up to 125 people may have been exposed at two parties held in March

The Adams County Health Department says it's investigating two large parties that were held after the state-wide stay-at-home order was issued, for possible COVID-19 exposures.

The Department said Saturday that it learned of the parties while conducting a contact investigation into a previous case. A statement said that the first party was held March 21st outside Lima, with an estimated 50-100 people. The second one happened March 27th in Quincy, with an estimated 25 people attending. In both incidents, the Department says it's notifying people who attended both parties that they may have been exposed to COVID-19. Party-goers at the Lima event who would have been exposed may have already developed symptoms, and in some case have seen symptoms resolve. The Health Department wants people who were at that party, especially those who have experienced respiratory symptoms, to notify friends and family about their potential exposure.

The Health Department says it's also contacting people who were at the Quincy party about their potential exposure, checking them for symptoms and giving instructions on how to self-quarantine. The Health Department statement called the parties "irresponsible", and also illegal under Illinois  Governor J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order.
