Treasurer Terry Asher: First installment due June 1; that's a month early, due to state law
The first real estate tax payment due this year in Adams County will be a month earlier.
County Treasurer Terry Asher announced Monday that the first installment of real estate property taxes will be due on June 5th. Asher plans to mail out the tax bills by this Friday, about 30 days earlier than normal. In a statement, Asher says that although the first installment will be due earlier, that earlier date allows for more time between installment payments, as intended by state law. The second installment will be due on September 1st, and the Property Tax Code specifies tax due dates of June 1 and September 1, to give 90 days between installment payments. There's no change in the second installment due date, which in the past has normally been on or around September 1.
Asher says he'll answer tax questions for specific properties, and start accepting tax payments on Monday, May 1.
