Both sides working to resolve case
The civil court case between Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois and four Northeast Missouri counties over the original path of the Mark Twain Transmission project is now on hold.
At a Wednesday telephone conference with attorneys, court records show that Cole County Circuit court Judge Jon Beetem ruled that the case is now stayed. That's so both sides can try and come to an agreement in the suit, filed earlier this year. Ameren Transmission sued Marion, Knox, Shelby, Adair and Schuyler Counties after they again denied the company permission to build the high-voltage power line, set to run from near Palmyra to the Iowa line. That's after the Missouri Public Service Commission gave its' OK for the project, pending approval from the five counties. Adair County was dropped from the suit last month, and the other four counties have already asked that one of the counts in the suit be dropped.
Judge Beetem's instructions included a note for the lawyers to contact the Court next January to schedule a conference call if case isn't resolved by then.
