Accused of murder in New Year's Day shooting in LaHarpe

A 17-year old Hamilton boy, charged with murder in the New Years’ Day shooting death of a 19 year old LaHarpe woman, has been found fit to stand trial, and will do so this summer.

Antonio Sanchez was in Hancock County Circuit Court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery. The Hancock County Journal-Pilot reports that at the hearing, probable cause was found against Sanchez. Afterwards, he pleaded Not Guilty to the charges. Sanchez was found fit to stand trial, based on the results of a mental fitness exam requested earlier by his attorney. Sanchez is charged in connection with the shooting death of 19 year old Madison Finch of LaHarpe. Authorities say she was shot once in the head during a New Year’s party at her home.

Sanchez is being held without bond in the Hancock County Jail, and will go on trial July 9th.
