Quincy, Hannibal get under 1"; highest amounts in Lewis Co.

Snowfall amounts from Friday night's winter storm were much less than expected for most of the WTAD listening area.

The National Weather Service says that most areas received under 2 inches of snow from the storm, including Quincy and Hannibal. Reports overnight from law enforcement show that Quincy received only a half inch of snow, while Hannibal got .7 an inch. South of Hannibal, amounts were even less, with Pittsfield, New London and Bowling Green all recording just .2 of an inch. Paris, Missouri recorded a tenth of an inch of freezing rain. The highest amounts of snow were in Lewis and Shelby counties. Shelbyville recorded 2 inches, La Grange 2.4 inches and Lewistown had 4 inches of snow.

Temperatures are expected to drop through the day Saturday, with overnight lows in the single digits. Northwest winds could gust up to 35 miles per hour.
