Church treasurer Donald White accused of stealing over $300,000 from church

A Hannibal man and church elder has been arrested on Federal charges that he stole over $300,000 from the Antioch Baptist Church.

Ralls County Sheriff Gerry Dinwiddie Friday said that 68 year old Donald White has been charged with two counts of wire fraud. White was indicted Thursday by a Federal Grand Jury in St. Louis, which says that White stole nearly $321,000 in all from the church. According to Dinwiddie, White's been taken to St. Louis by the FBI to be turned over to US Marshals. In a statement, Dinwiddie described the investigation as "extensive", and says it started after the suspicious fire in December 2016 which destroyed the church. White, who was an elder and longtime treasurer of the church, was suspected by other parishioners of being involved with the large scale theft of church funds just before the fire. Dinwiddie says he "greatly appreciates the support and patience of the parishioners of Antioch Baptist Church during the investigation".

A court date's not yet been set for White. Read the full indictment below.
