Identified as Rushville man, school on lock-down throughout day

Schuyler County, Illinois Sheriff Bill Redshaw has confirmed that the body of a Rushville man was found Thursday morning near Meredosia-Chambersburg High School.

Our news-gathering partners at KHQA-TV report that the body of the still-unidentified man was found around 8 AM in Meredosia, in a truck parked in front of a vacant house on Montgomery Street. A neighbor said she saw the truck around 6:30 AM when her husband was leaving to go fishing. The neighbor said she didn't call the cops because she thought it belonged to someone looking at the house. An hour later, that same neighbor saw someone drive by, back up and then call 911. Authorities removed the man's body from the vehicle around 12:40 PM. The investigation is being handled by the Illinois State Police, who say the death does have suspicious circumstances.

Meredosia-Chambersburg High School was locked down from around 8:20 AM to 1 PM, and were dismissed at 2:15 PM, because Thursday was the students' last day of school.
