James Addie accused of shooting fiance on eve of wedding

A Mexico, Missouri man, charged with murder in the death of his fiance’ two days before their planned April wedding, won't have his bond lowered.

Lawyers for James Addie were in Cole County Circuit Court Friday, asking that his $500,000 cash-only bond be lowered. Court records show that was denied by Judge John Beetem. Addie’s set to have a six-day trial starting next October 19th in Cole County. The trial was moved there from Monroe County on a change of venue. Addie faces counts of First Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action, and was charged one day after the body of 35 year old Molly Watson of Huntsville was discovered in Monroe County. Prosecutors say Watson was shot once in the head, and according to Addie, the two were to be married in Columbia later that weekend. The pair had a relationship for seven years, even though Addie was married to his then-wife for over 20 years. He allegedly told law enforcement “I got myself involved in something I shouldn’t have.”

Addie's being held in the Monroe County Jail, and will be back in court in mid-January.
