John Dean of Mt. Sterling to go on trial in May

A Mt. Sterling man, accused of murdering a Mt. Sterling woman in June at the home they shared, has pleaded Not Guilty and will go on trial this spring.

John Dean entered that plea Thursday at his arraignment in Brown County Circuit Court on one count of 1st Degree Murder. He's set to go on trial starting May 18th. Dean's accused of fatally shooting 44-year old Rebecca Niewohner June 14th. She was found dead at their home in the 400 block of East Chestnut in Mt. Sterling. A charging document says that Dean shot Niewohner once in the face with a 45 caliber hand gun. Dean was also found with a gunshot wound to the face, and was taken to a Springfield hospital.

Dean is free on $25,000 bond, and will be back in court April 23rd.
