119 jobs leaving
A major Hannibal employer is closing by the end of the year, and taking 119 jobs with it.
Zhongding Sealing Parts USA, who owns and operates Buckhorn Rubber Products, announced Wednesday their plans to close the Hannibal plant, and relocate its production lines by the end of the year. Employees were notified this week, and those affected will be offered a severance package or a position at another facility. The plant employed 119 people. In a statement announcing the closure, Plant Manager Todd Kendall said the decision was part of Zhongding's "ongoing efforts to streamline its business operations and strive for operational excellence.” Kendall also said the move was made in part "to reduce long-term production costs."
The Hannibal property will be put up for sale after it's closed.
