Robert Rooney, 94, later died of his injuries at Blessing Hospital; QPD investigating
Quincy police say a man who drove his vehicle into the Mississippi River Saturday afternoon has died of his injuries.
In a statement, the QPD have identified the man as 94-year old Robert Rooney of Quincy, and say that the incident happened around 3:45 PM at Kesler Park. They've offered few details since the accident happened, saying only that Rooney's vehicle went into the river. They add that they, along with the Quincy Fire Department, Adams County Ambulance, and Tri Township Fire all responded to the vehicle in the river. Rooney was removed from the submerged vehicle and taken to Blessing Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Police say their investigation into how the car ended up in the river is on-going.
