HFD says they continue to investigate

Hannibal firefighters say they haven't determined the cause of a fire Sunday morning that destroyed two homes, and that they will continue to investigate.

The HFD released a statement Monday afternoon about the fire, which they were called to just before 3 AM Sunday in the 1100 block of Valley. They say they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the homes at 1110 and 1112 Valley when they arrived, and that the fire extended to 1116 Valley. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within minutes, but it did take them several hours to control and extinguish it. The home at 1110 Valley was occupied, and did have a functioning smoke detector which alerted the occupants inside. Firefighters say that allowed everyone to make it out un-hurt. The HFD goes on to say that both 1110 and 1112 Valley suffered heavy fire damage and had to be demolished.

1116 Valley had heat, smoke, water, and fire damage to the attic and roof.
