Kristopher Sponsler arrested Monday in Hannibal

Marion County authorities say a Hannibal man's been arrested on a drug dealing charge, after another man stopped breathing after overdosing.

Marion County Prosecutor David Clayton announced Thursday that 27-year old Kristopher Sponsler has been charged with one count of delivery of a controlled substance. He's accused of delivering Fentanyl Monday morning to a home in the 500 block of North 9th in Hannibal that led to an overdose. The user had to be given 3 doses of Narcan, but was revived. In a statement, Clayton said "We’re seeing more situations where heroin is being mixed with Fentanyl as was allegedly done here. Unfortunately, the law does not permit me to charge this alleged distributor with more serious charges.”

Sponsler is in the Marion County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bond, and will be arraigned Friday. If convicted, he could get up to 10 years in prison.
