City Council meetings to re-open Monday

Social distancing guidelines will be implemented; limited amount of seats

With the start of Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan, meetings of the Quincy City Council will re-open to the public starting Monday with changes.

The City announced Friday that remote participation by aldermen will end on Monday. Council Chambers have been rearranged to allow for tiered seating for aldermen and committee members. A news release says that with the maximum number of people being capped at 50, there will be 15 open seats available to those who want to attend. If you want to attend the meeting, you must register with the City Clerk by Noon Monday by calling 217-228-4510 or emailing cityclerk@quincyil.gov. Priority will be given to those who have business before the council or committee. The City says it will make attempts to increase the amount of open seats by limiting attendance of department heads to only those who have business before the council. In addition, everyone is asked to wear a mask when entering City Hall. You can remove it once you sit down.

Also, anyone attending will need to give their name at the door to enter City Hall.
