Work done in 4th and 7th Wards

The Quincy City Council will spend nearly $950,000 to fix streets in two of the city's wards.

The Council voted Monday night to approve the low bid of some $944,000 from Rees Construction for road improvements in the city's fourth and seventh wards. The money comes from the city's Capital budget for roadway improvements. The Council tabled for another week a final reading of a proposed ordinance to set salaries for city officials for the next four years. Under the ordinance, the City Clerk and Treasurer would get one per cent yearly raises for the last three years, starting next May.

Neither the Mayor's office, nor Aldermen, would see a pay hike with the proposed ordinance.
