Vote on nearly $70,000 bid delayed a week

The Quincy City Council has delayed for a week a request to implement another part of the Quincy Next Strategic Plan.

The Council heard a resolution Monday night asking it to approve a bid of nearly $70,000 to install 15 way-finding directional signs on the perimeter of Quincy's downtown. On a motion from 7th Ward Alderman Jack Holtschlag, the resolution was delayed a week. The signs are one of the 100 suggestions put forth earlier this year in the Plan, adopted by the Council. The Council voted to approve a resolution to formally approve Federal pass through funding for repairs and re-habbing Runway 13/31 at Quincy Regional Airport. That Federal money has already been awarded to the city by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Two new firefighters were also sworn in Monday night. Matt Reynolds and Brian Meyer will leave for training just after Labor Day.
