In-person classes start August 24; longer winter break

Culver-Stockton College says it has a plan to safely have students back on campus next month.

School President Dr. Douglas Palmer announced the plan Tuesday, which calls for students to return to campus throughout August and classes will begin as scheduled on Monday, August 24th. A statement says that to maximize the ability to stay on campus with regular face-to-face classes, Thanksgiving break will be shortened to November 25th through the 29th, and the last day of the fall semester will be December 11th. That means the winter break will be a week longer. Some of the measures Culver-Stockton plans to put in place include the wearing of a face covering inside all campus buildings, except private residence hall rooms and offices, athletic programs will operate in accordance with NAIA and Heart of America Athletic Conference guidelines, and social distancing of 6 feet. In addition, the school will modify dining services to comply with physical distancing and safety protocols, there will be no college-sponsored student travel during the fall semester without prior approval, and during the first phase of reopening, no guests will be allowed on campus. No spectators are allowed for athletic games and other events.

Palmer says that as the school continues to monitor the changing dynamics of COVID-19, their plan could change.
