Drought conditions worsening in Northeast Missouri

Extreme drought conditions found in three counties

The latest report on this summer's drought in Northeast Missouri says that extreme drought conditions are spreading.

That report issued Thursday by the US Drought Monitor shows that severe to extreme drought has continued to expand in parts of Northeast and Central Missouri over the past few weeks. Parts of western Clark County are now facing extreme drought conditions. That's in addition to nearly all of Scotland County and the northern half of Knox County. Elsewhere in Northeast Missouri, the remainder of Clark and Knox counties, and Lewis County, is in a severe drought. Conditions are slightly better for the remainder of Northeast Missouri. A Drought Alert declared in July by Missouri Governor Mike Parson continues in Knox and Lewis counties.

Severe drought conditions also continue to spread in other parts of the Tri-States, as they now affect nearly half of Hancock County, and parts of Lee and Adams Counties.
