Abnormally dry conditions in Western IL, Southeast Iowa
Just months after rainfall caused near-record flood levels, parts of the WTAD listening area are now considered to be in drought status.
That's according to the National Weather Service. Their National Integrated Drought Information System says parts of the Midwest are now in various stages of drought. Locally, parts or nearly all of Adams, Brown, Pike, Hancock, Schuyler and McDonough counties in Illinois, most of Clark County, Missouri and all of Southeast Iowa are all considered abnormally dry. Des Moines and Henry counties in Iowa and northern Henderson County, Illinois are considered to be in moderate drought.
The NIDIS says that the last 30 days brought only a half to two inches of rain in the affected areas.
