Several races in the Tri-States

Today is Election Day nation-wide, and in the Tri-States, but with few local races on the ballot.

There are some races on the ballot in Quincy and Adams County. 18th District Illinois Congressman Darin LaHood faces Democrat George Petrilli, while 94th District State Representative Randy Frese is running against Democratic challenger Angel Smith. There's only one race among Adams County office-holders. County Clerk Ryan Niekamp faces Democrat Arianna Downard-Salih to fill the remaining two years of former Clerk Chuck Venvertloh's term. Also, there's one race on the Adams County Board. In District 2, Republican Barbara Fletcher, appointed to the Board this summer, faces Democrat Susan Gribler. Voters in the Quincy Park District are being asked to approve the Park District's sale of Lenane Park. The 7 1/2 acre park is on the city's northwest side, and is named after former Mayor Leo Lenane.

In Marion County, there are several races on the ballot. U.S. Congressman Sam Graves of Tarkio faces Democrat Gena Ross and Libertarian candidate Jim Higgins. Locally, the Marion County Western District Commissioner's race has Republican Steve Begley facing Democrat Bill Goellner. In Ralls County, the Eastern District Commissioner's race has Republican Junior Muehring against Democrat Ric Harlow. The Western District Commissioner's race has Republican John Lake versus Democrat Mike Roberts. The Sheriff's race has Republican Brad Stinson on the ballot, but current Sheriff Gerry Dinwiddie, who had earlier decided to retire, is running as a write-on candidate for the job. In Lewis County, the only races are the North and South District races for the Lewis County Commission. In the North District, Democrat John Campen is running against Republican Deanne Whiston, and in the South District, Republican Travis Fleer is running against Democrat Daniel Kelly.

In Lee County, Iowa there's only one race that's opposed. That's for District 4 of the Lee County Board. Former Keokuk Mayor Democrat Gary Folluo faces Republican Garry Seyb Jr. The polls are open from 6 AM to 7 PM today in both Illinois and Missouri, and from 7 AM to 9 PM in Iowa.
