Local REAL 929 listener wins a trip with Elvis Duran and the Morning Show
So, you’re a listener of a syndicated morning show on one of the local radio stations. This show originates in New York and the members of the show are taking a trip. They’re taking a bunch of listeners along with them and you can call in and win. And you’re going to do that, right?
Well, Tina Smith of Quincy did and this past Tuesday (2/7) she called in and won!!
“I’ve been getting up at six every morning for the past couple of weeks because they’ve been conducting the contest at 6:20 right after the “Phone Tap”, explained Smith. “They were giving away 2 tickets each day to caller number 100. And for days I would call and just get a busy signal, but on Tuesday I called and after days of busy signals it rang and rang and rang.”
Smith, a member of Quincy’s Business Center team, started to go into shock; but then good things started to happen.
“Then a lady answered,” Smith continued. “She asked my name and where I was from and then said nothing else. The lady put me on hold and there was total silence. Then, all of a sudden I could hear noises and sounds from the Z100 studios in New York (home station of Elvis Duran and The Morning Show) come up and it’s Elvis Duran saying; “Hello Tina!”
And there’s Tina Smith from Quincy, Illinois talking with Elvis and hundreds of thousands of listeners!!
“And I sound SO stupid on the phone!!!, she laughed. “I think I was in shock because I couldn’t believe it. I’m always the type that’s waiting for the ball to drop; like YOU didn’t win; like YOU’RE not really the winner. I think Elvis and the gang were a little shocked that I wasn’t more excited, but I couldn’t believe this was happening.”
Ironically it was Tina’s husband Eric who turned her on the to the contest Elvis was running.
“My husband, Eric, actually told me about the contest. He’s a big fan of the show! Eric said that I might have had a better chance at winning the lottery than winning this contest, but hey, I won!!”
Tina and Eric will be enjoying a warmer climate in late April while rubbing elbows with the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show crew and relaxing at one of the new five star resorts in Mexico.
“They make me laugh every morning, Smith said. “With Elvis it’s just great to get up and start the day off with something funny. “They tease each other and really seem to get along so well. They’re just fun to listen to and I just love them!!”
