Governor JB Pritzker says declaration will provide help to local governments affected by spring flooding
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker says that the Trump Administration has approved a Federal disaster area declaration for over 25 counties affected by this spring's flooding, including Adams County.
Pritzker Thursday announced that federal help is now available for local governments to access grants or loans to help with flood-related losses or costs incurred from battling this year’s flooding. In all, 27 counties along the Illinois and Mississippi rivers are now eligible to apply for federal disaster help. Those local counties eligible for public help besides Adams County include Cass, Hancock, Henderson, Pike and Schuyler Counties. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will awards grants to help state and local governments and certain private non-profits with their response to and recovery from disasters.
Those grants can cover up to 75% of eligible costs, which include debris removal, implementation of emergency protective measures and permanently restoring infrastructure.
