Sheriff's Office says it got a tip about escape; more arrests coming

The Adams County Sheriff's Office says it has foiled an escape plot by five inmates, including one who had previously fled the court house before being jailed.

In a Friday statement, Sheriff Brian VonderHaar identified the five as Brian Dyer, Patrick Lambert, Cody Felker, Jeffrey Schmidt and William Brewer. Lambert's already being held on escape and resisting arrest charges, after fleeing the Adams County courthouse in April after his bail was revoked on an assault charge. Brewer's awaiting trial in June on counts of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment, in connection with an October fire that killed two children on Quincy's northwest side. VonderHaar says that jailers got a tip Wednesday that at least those five inmates were conspiring to escape from the Adams County Jail. All five have been charged with Attempted Escape, Conspiracy and Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property.

All five will be in court Monday on the new charges. VonderHaar says that additional arrests are pending.
