Former Hannibal Middle School student accused of killing Officer Blake Snyder in 2016

A former Hannibal Middle School student, accused of murdering a St. Louis County policeman in October 2016, will go on trial in 2019 but won't face the death penalty if convicted.

Court records show that Trenton Forster was in St. Louis County Circuit court Friday for a hearing, where his trial was set to begin February 4th, 2019. Prosecutor Robert McCulloch said in a statement that the decision to not pursue the death penalty came after an examination and re-examination of evidence. Forster's charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of 33-year-old Blake Snyder. Forster's accused of fatally shooting Snyder in the face after the officer responded to a reported disturbance. Forster's also charged with second-degree assault and another count of armed criminal action, for allegedly pointing a gun at Snyder's police partner.

Forster has pleaded Not Guilty and remains jailed on $1 million bond.
