Now set for Feb 20; Trial still set for March 7

A former Hannibal man, accused of killing his father in 2015 with a crossbow, has had an upcoming court date delayed.

Court records show that on Wednesday, Judge David Mobley delayed a pre-trial hearing for Carl Goldberg from Friday, to February 20th in Hannibal. Goldberg's three-day trial will start March 7th in Monroe County Circuit Court, where the case was moved on a change of venue. He's pleaded Not Guilty to charges of 2nd degree Murder and armed criminal action in the death of his 84-year-old father, Carl Maxwell. Goldberg allegedly told Hannibal detectives that “he snapped”, then shot Maxwell twice with a crossbow in February 2015. Goldberg then allegedly put his father’s body in a freezer at a vacant house on Broadway, and left it there, until it was found 8 months later.

Goldberg is in the Marion County Jail on $1 million bond.
