Trent Loos returns to WTAD April 8th!

“Saturday mornings just won’t the be the same”, lamented Steve Looten. “I’ll actually get to sleep in."

Looten, host of the McDonalds Saturday Morning Ticket on WTAD, is stepping away from the program as of this coming Saturday after a solid 14 month run.

“I always wanted to do a show like this. And now I have,” Looten told me over breakfast.  “Having a full hour, on site, interviewing sports figures on the local level and from around the country was challenging, informative and a lot of fun.”

Looten, the former sports director and anchor for WGEM TV, set the table each Saturday with guests from Quincy Notre Dame, Quincy University and Quincy High, in addition to those in the local and national spotlight.  Along with his guests Looten shared his own experiences and his unique brand of Looten humor.

The McDonald’s Saturday Morning Ticket hit the airwaves on January 20, 2016 from the McDonald’s at 13th and Broadway in Quincy.  Owner Greg Shireling, a big sports fan and supporter, thought the show would fill a niche for the sports fan during those early morning hours on a Saturday.  So, when the opportunity to sponsor the program came up he signed on.   WTAD looks to duplicate The Ticket in some fashion in the fall of 2017.

Commencing April 8th Loos Tales, Food Link returns to WTAD in the 7:30 time slot on Saturday mornings.  Former Payson native Trent Loos is well known around the country as a humorist and storyteller.  He produces a number of radio programs that are aired on over 100 radio stations nationwide drawing audiences of over 4 million listeners.  When he’s not behind the mic Loos stays busy addressing those in the business of agricultural both young and old.  It was a recent speaking engagement in Quincy that brought Loos back to AM 930.  Sometimes things just work out.

So, Saturday mornings won’t be the same, but they’ll have a familiar feel. We appreciate the efforts of Steve Looten, Josh Humphrey, Scott Hardy  and our hosts Greg Shireling and Mike Foley of McDonalds at 13th and Broadway. We look forward to picking up where we left off with Trent Loos.
