Current Deputy Coroner wants to replace John Myers, who's not running

Adams County's Deputy Coroner says he intends to run next year for the top job.

Scott Graham says he plans to formally announce his plans Tuesday to run for County Coroner in next March's Republican primary. Graham will hold a campaign kick-off Tuesday afternoon at Tiramisu restaurant in Quincy. Current Coroner John Myers doesn't plan to run for re-election next year. A statement from Graham's campaign says he's been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1994, and has operated Central Illinois Trade Services since 2006. Before being named Chief Deputy Coroner in Adams County, he served as deputy coroner in Morgan County, starting in 2015.

Myers was appointed Coroner after former Coroner James Keller resigned last June, and won election last November to fill the remaining two years of Keller's term. Keller later pleaded Guilty to one count of Drug possession and was given two years' probation.
