Elected by fellow Republicans on Friday
It's not the job Sam Graves was hoping for, but it's one he'll accept for the next two years.
The Missouri 6th District Congressman, who represents Northeast Missouri, was elected Friday by members of the House Republican Conference as ranking Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Graves had hoped to be Committee chairman, but that won't happen after Democrats won a sizeable majority in the House. In a statement Graves says he's honored to be chosen.
He adds that he'll work with his House colleagues as well as with the Senate and President Trump to address "our crumbling infrastructure", calling it a bipartisan issue. Graves says he wants to craft an infrastructure proposal that includes finding a long-term funding solution for the Highway Trust Fund.
