Sheriff Scott Bentzinger says Corey Hamelton faces Sexual misconduct charge

Hancock County authorities say that a correctional employee at the County Jail has been arrested on charges that he had an inappropriate relationship with a female inmate.

Sheriff Scott Bentzinger Monday announced the arrest of 35-year old Cory Hamelton on one count of Custodial Sexual Misconduct. A statement from Bentzinger says that he called in the Illinois State Police to investigate, after he learned of the allegations. Hamelton was arrested Friday by the ISP, and his bond was set Sunday at $100,000. Hamelton will have a hearing in Hancock County Circuit Court on October 24th.

He's being held in the McDonough County Jail.
