No persons in home at the time of the fire.

Hannibal firefighters say that a house fire on Fulton Avenue Monday afternoon was likely accidental, and due to a problem in the electrical system.

The fire at 1413 Fulton, which may have claimed the lives of three pets, caused heavy damage to the one story home. The homeowners reportedly went into the burning home and rescued a dog and two cats. Firefighters said they saw heavy smoke coming from the structure when they arrived, and managed to put out the fire within 20 minutes.

According to firefighters, the home was not occupied at the time, and it did not have a working smoke detector.
