HPD say 17 year old and a dog were shot during argument Tuesday

A Hannibal man faces charges after both a Hannibal teen and his dog were wounded in an early-morning shooting Tuesday.

Hannibal police say they first learned of the incident just after 3 AM Tuesday, when they were called to Hannibal Regional Hospital. A 17-year old boy told officers he was arguing with 19-year old Seth Emerson at a home in the 3100 block of Rendlen Avenue, when the boy's dog became aggressive towards Emerson. The boy said that Emerson got a handgun to try to scare the dog. The gun fired, hitting both the dog and the teen's leg. A report says that officers found the weapon at the home, and that Emerson turned himself in at the HPD.

He was arrested on charges of Domestic Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Animal Abuse and Armed Criminal Action. Emerson's now in the Marion County Jail awaiting a bond hearing. The boy was treated and released, while the wounded dog was taken to a local vet to be treated.
