Hannibal man arrested on sexual abuse charge

Michael Stone, 43, allegedly abused child last Sept and Oct

A Hannibal man's been arrested for alleged sexual abuse of his step-daughter last year.

Hannibal police announced Monday they arrested 43 year old Michael Stone Saturday, after getting information about what they called "possible sexual abuse of a child". Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton says the child involved told her mother on Friday about the alleged abuse, and that the incidents happened last September and October. He also says that additional charges will be filed over incidents that allegedly occurred outside city limits that include "conduct against the same victim, around the same time period." Stone faces a charge of 1st Degree Sexual Abuse, and if convicted, could get from 5 to 15 years in prison.

Stone's in the Marion County Jail on $100,000 bond, and will be arraigned on Friday.
