Jeffrey Anderson, 33, tried to run from cops after short chase on US 61

A Hannibal man faces a drug charge after allegedly fleeing from ACES officers Tuesday morning on the city's south end.

Hannibal police identify the man as 33-year old Jeffrey Anderson, and say the incident started around 8:15 AM. ACES officers and another HPD unit tried to stop Anderson on US 61 as he was heading south. A report says that after a brief vehicle chase, Anderson fled from officers on foot. He was soon arrested, and officers say that a later search of his vehicle allegedly found what they're calling a large amount of what is believed to be marijuana. Anderson's since been formally charged in Marion County with one count of Distributing a Controlled Substance.

He's free on $50,000 bond, and will be in court Friday morning.
