Jason Coulter faces assault, resisting arrest charges

A Hannibal man is in jail, after trying to take a swing at an officer while being arrested Thursday.

Hannibal Police say the incident happened Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of Broadway, when officers with the HPD's ACES unit saw 36 year old Jason Coulter sitting in a car. Coulter had a felony warrant out of Illinois for obstructing a police officer and a driving while revoked charge in Hannibal. Officers say when they approached Coulter, he tried to get rid of drug paraphernalia and resisted arrest, by trying to hit an officer. Coulter now faces additional charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest for a felony and tampering with physical evidence.

He's in the Marion County Jail on the charges, while he waits for his first court appearance.
