James Bell sentenced to 12 years in prison

A Hannibal man, indicted on drug and weapons charges in Pike County, Illinois after his arrest near Barry, has pleaded Guilty and is going to prison.

James Bell entered that plea Tuesday at his arraignment in Pike County Circuit Court. As part of a settlement with prosecutors, Bell pleaded Guilty to one Class X count of a Felon in possession of body armor, and one count of meth possession. In return, a second body armor count was dropped. Records show that after the plea, Bell was then sentenced to 12 years in prison. He was indicted in mid-May by a Grand jury.

Prosecutors had said that a Pike County Sheriff's deputy stopped Bell's vehicle April 24th on County Highway 4 near the Barry Travel Plaza.
