Jared Majors wanted on Shelby Co warrant

A Hannibal man is in the Shelby County Jail after his arrest Wednesday night, which left a Hannibal Police officer with minor injuries.

Hannibal police say their ACES officers got a tip that 40 year old Jared Majors, who was wanted in Shelby County on 2016 charges of resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia, was inside an apartment in the 200 block of Centerville Road. In a statement, officers say when they got there, Majors fled into a room where he began struggling with an officer. During the struggle, that officer suffered minor injuries, which didn't need immediate medical treatment. Majors was arrested, and officers found what they think was meth, and syringes on him. Majors was arrested on numerous charges, including Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a controlled substance and Resisting Arrest.

Majors is in the Shelby County Jail on $10,000 cash-only bond, while Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton is deciding whether to file additional charges. Majors is due to go on trial in Shelby County September 28.
