Second letter sent Friday wanting answers on three issues
The Chairman of the Adams County Board says that the Illinois Department of Agriculture is still waiting for answers from a Pittsfield-based company about a proposed hog confinement near Camp Point.
According to Chairman Les Post, the Ag Department sent a second letter Friday to Pike Pig Systems, wanting answers to three issues it has with the Gin Ridge hog confinement. They include the status of a well on the property, proposed improvements to County Roads 2050 East and 1700 North, and copies of any agreements between the Company and Columbus Township over the roads. The issues were raised after a late June public hearing in Quincy over the proposed facility. The Department of Agriculture sent its' first letter August 24th, and says it can't decide on a permit for the confinement facility until it gets answers from Pike Pig Systems.
The Adams County Board has voted to not recommend to the Ag Department that the facility be built. A copy of the letter is available below.
