Illinois Crop Progress for week ending 6-2

The weekly Crop Progress report shows little progress in planting the nation's corn and soybean crops as unrelenting rains continue to inundate much of the corn belt. Corn plantings across the nation increased to 67 percent, compared to 58 percent a week ago and the five-year average of 96 percent. Just 39 percent of estimated soybean acres have been planted, compared to 29 percent last week, and the five-year average of 79 percent.

In Illinois for the week ending June 2nd; Statewide, the average temperature was 70.3 degrees, 3.0 degrees above normal.

Precipitation averaged 1.79 inches, 0.83 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 40 percent adequate and 60 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 39 percent adequate and 61 percent surplus.

Corn planted was at 45 percent, compared to 100 percent last year and the 5-year average of 98 percent. Corn emerged was at 32 percent.

Soybeans planted was at 21 percent, compared to 93 percent last year and the 5-year average of 84 percent. Soybeans emerged was at 13 percent.

Winter wheat headed reached 87 percent, compared to 97 percent last year and the 5-year average of 95t.

Winter wheat condition was rated at 22 percent very poor to poor, 48 percent fair, 30 percent good to excellent.
