Current dispensary owner interested in building adult-use dispensary at 4th and Maine

The owner of Quincy's medical marijuana dispensary says he's interested in building a possible second adult-use dispensary at 4th and Maine.

Bob Lansing of Herbal Remedies told the Quincy City Council Monday night about his proposal to the city. He wants to build that second adult-use cannabis dispensary on the site of the former Newcomb Hotel. That building burned down just over six years ago. Those comments came during a request to speak to the council at a second reading of the city's proposed adult-use ordinance, and a second ordinance to put a 3 per cent tax on cannabis sales. City Director of Planning Chuck Bevelheimer says that Lansing already has plans for one adult-use dispensary, and that he does have an advantage, thanks to the new state law.

A Chicago-based company, Green Thumb Industries, also wants to open an adult-use dispensary in Quincy. Any dispensary would be limited under the city's ordinance to either East Broadway or The District. Those two ordinances are up for a third and final reading next Monday.
