Jason Lage sentencing set for May 10

6 years, 1 month ago by Scott Hardy

His lawyer has asked for a new trial in Monroe Co. murder case

A Columbia man, convicted earlier this month of killing a Monroe County man in 2014, will be sentenced in May.

Court records show that on Thursday, a Calloway County judge set a May 10th sentencing date for Jason Lage. He was convicted of 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action in the shooting death of Zachary Dawson of Madison. Lage's attorney has asked for a new trial, which will also be decided at the hearing. The jury in Fulton deliberated for over 8 hours before returning a Guilty verdict, along with an acquittal on one count of Evidence Tampering. The case was heard there on a change of venue. The fatal shooting happened at Dawson's home after a night of drinking in February 2014, when Lage allegedly held a gun to Dawson's head to intimidate him during a robbery, and it went off.

Lage's being held in the Monroe County Jail.
