Nearly $15.6 million budget revealed, to be approved next month

For the third straight year, John Wood Community College students won't see a hike in their tuition.

The JWCC Board of Trustees Wednesday night approved a tentative, nearly $15.6 million balanced budget. The College says in a statement that while the tentative budget is over $551,000 higher than last year, it does not include an increase in tuition or fees for in-district, out-of-district and online instruction. John Wood says that the budget increase is based on what it calls "strategic planning investments, enrollment initiatives and College contractual obligations." They also say that revenues have gone up, due to a slight increase in credit hours, along with flat state funding and property taxes. JWCC plans to continue over a dozen enrollment initiatives in the budget, including the Missouri Plus Scholarship.

The budget will likely be adopted next month.
