JWCC increases HS grad market share

32% of HS grads in 15-county area attend

John Wood Community College is enrolling more local high school graduates. Sean Secrease has more.

That's according to a report heard Wednesday night by the College's Board of Trustees. Dean of Enrollment Services Melanie Lechtenberg told the Board that JWCC enrolled 32% of students graduating from its 15 district high schools this year, a one per cent increase from last year. More than half of the district high schools increased the number of graduates going to John Wood. The College had the highest enrollment increases from Camp Point Central, Quincy High, Pittsfield, Pleasant Hill and Unity. In fact, Half of the 2016 graduates from Camp Point Central and Pleasant Hill chose JWCC, while 161 QHS students enrolled at JWCC. The College also saw enrollment increases from Quincy Notre Dame, Southeastern and Bluffs.

Over the last 10 years, JWCC’s district high school market share average is at 28%.
