College's market share, while small, has doubled

The John Wood Community College Board of Trustees learned that the College's recruitment efforts in Northeast Missouri are starting to pay off.

Kristen Ritterbusch, JWCC director of admissions, told the Board Wednesday night at their meeting in Quincy that the College’s increased efforts in high schools within the nine Missouri counties bordering JWCC’s district have increased the College’s Missouri high school market share. It's up from 2 to 4 per cent and is responsible for attracting 11 new students to JWCC in the last year. Those nine counties are Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Pike, Monroe, Shelby, Knox and Scotland. Trustees also renewed an agreement between Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences. They'll provide an Associate in Applied Science degree in surgical technology. JWCC will continue to teach the first year of courses, and BRCN will teach all clinical courses in the second year.

Surgical tech students will get their degree from John Wood.
