70 animals inside still being cared for

Quincy's former Animal Shelter is temporarily closed, and some in the city aren't happy about it.

The Katherine Road Animal Hospital closed its' doors as of Monday, due to the lack of a state license. In response, about a dozen protestors were in front of the former City animal shelter Wednesday night, urging action from the city about the 70 animals that are still in the building, fearing they may not be getting proper care. A notice on the front door says that the facility is changing over to a no kill, positive re-enforcement, private animal rescue facility. Katherine Road employees say they are going to the shelter daily to care for the animals.

The facility is run by Doctor Drew Kaiser, who is facing both local and state hearings next month on charges of animal cruelty.
